S.A.C. The Arts Centre – Inspiro by Surapong Sudasna Na Ayudhya

Living together equally and fairly is the beauty of mankind by which one’s life can inspire others. Surapong Sutat Na Ayutthaya intends to present the wonderful inspiration through works of art with a strong belief that people are supposed to open their minds and sincerely pay respect to themselves and others.

When he was desperate and gloomy in his life, he stood up again with power to move forward and step across difficulties by his inspiration, a group of people who the society calls them as ‘Laborers’. Because they are not dressing up pleasingly and have no money, they are usually ignored for given praised and respect; then, being assessed for not having qualities to inspire anyone. On the contrary, Sutat Na Ayutthaya sees this on a different angle as labor lives are meaningful with beauty. Being regarded as role models, blue collar workers have motivated the artist to confront with problems in his life and inspire him to create works of art. Since the first solo show ‘HERO’ in 2015, his works have been developed to be deeper in content; also, forms & techniques have been shaped up to be finer. From external factors, now discover a motivation within oneself. The strength, endurance and simple lives of the proletariats are still playing a key role to drive Sutat Na Ayutthaya to create works of art.

‘Inspiro’ is a Latin vocabulary; means ‘to inspire’ in English. Due to Latin is a classical language which is firm and stable, Latin roots are suitably used worldwide in theology, biology, and medicine. It has influenced on present-day languages, and have contributed many words to European languages. Accordingly, it is corresponded to the concept of the exhibition in which the artist brings back proletarians, his role models and whom he believes that are the root of society, to perform in special characters as renowned idols or famous icons in the history. The aim is to express his strong belief that the value of mankind is should not be assessed from a social status; but, from a benefit to the world.

The exhibited works will appear in paintings with a special design for colors and visual elements; sculptures made of two different materials which varied in functions and values, e.g. Bronze often used for monuments, while cement and sand used for construction. All will be arranged and presented in a form of installation art which will be the best one in his lifetime. Besides, the works still maintain his unique style, particularly the designed character appears with oversized hands and feet to portray the ‘cogs’ of society. Moreover, the facial features of characters are diverse in races which extracted from the characteristic features of many nationalities and ways of living in various cultures, are mixed and arranged to create intense and enjoyable stories.

ในช่วงเวลาชีวิตที่ท้อถอยและสิ้นหวังของศิลปิน
เขากลับลุกขึ้นมามีพลังได้อีกครั้งจากผู้คนกลุ่มหนึ่ง
กลุ่มคนที่สังคมให้นิยามว่า “ กรรมกร คนใช้แรงงาน ”
กลุ่มคนเหล่านี้มักถูกมองข้ามผ่านจากการยกย่องให้เกียรติ
เพราะเพียงเปลือกผิวนอกที่อาจจะไม่ได้หมดจดงดงาม
หรือหรูหราร่ำรวย ทำให้เขาและเธอเหล่านั้นถูกตัดสินให้ไร้สิทธิ์ในการเป็นแรงบันดาลใจกับผู้อื่น

แต่ทว่าในสายตาศิลปิน เขากลับมองเห็นเนื้อหาชีวิตที่งดงาม ความเป็นคนต้นแบบ และได้กำลังใจจากกลุ่มคนเหล่านี้ให้เผชิญหน้ากับปัญหาชีวิต เป็นแรงบันดาลใจยิ่งใหญ่ในชีวิตการทำงานศิลปะ นับตั้งแต่นิทรรศการเดี่ยวครั้งแรกของเขา “Hero” ปี 2558 จนปัจจุบันที่ศิลปินยังคงต่อยอดการทำงานในมิติที่ละเอียดและพัฒนาขึ้น จากปัจจัยภายนอกสู่การค้นพบพลังภายในจิตใจตนเอง ความแข็งแกร่ง อดทน สัจจะชีวิตที่ชัดเจนเรียบง่ายในสังคมคนกรรมาชีพยังคงเป็นประเด็นหลักที่หนักแน่นให้ศิลปินไทยผู้นี้สร้างสรรค์ผลงานอย่างต่อเนื่อง

คำว่า Inspiro เป็นภาษาละติน มีความหมายถึง แรงบันดาลใจ
แรงผลักดัน และเป็นรากศัพท์ของคำว่า inspire ที่เราคุ้นเคยในภาษาอังกฤษ ภาษาละตินถูกนำมาใช้เป็นชื่อนิทรรศการในครั้งนี้ เพราะนับเป็นภาษาต้นแบบที่มีความเสถียรและมั่นคง ความหมายของคำต่างๆจะไม่เคลื่อนผันแปรตามกาลเวลา เพราะเป็นรากฐานสำคัญในภาษา งานทฤษฎี การศึกษาวิจัย ทั่วโลก จึงสอดคล้องอย่างยิ่งกับเนื้อหาของนิทรรศการครั้งนี้ที่ศิลปินได้นำกลุ่มคนต้นแบบของชีวิต เหล่าชนชั้นกรรมาชน ผู้เป็นฐานรากสำคัญในสังคม ให้แสดงตนในบทบาทพิเศษ บทบาทใหม่ในรูปลักษณ์ของบุคคลในประวัติศาสตร์หรือวีรชนที่โลกจดจำ ตอกย้ำเจตนารมณ์ของการเชิดชูคุณค่ามนุษย์ที่ไม่ได้จำเป็นต้องถูกจำกัดอยู่เพียงฐานันดรใดฐานันดรหนึ่งเท่านั้น

ผลงานในนิทรรศการ Inspiro แบ่งเป็น งานจิตรกรรม งานประติมากรรม และงานจัดวางกับสถานที่ ทุกเทคนิคยังคงเอกลักษณ์เฉพาะของศิลปิน การออกแบบร่างกายสัดส่วนมนุษย์ที่กำยำแข็งแรง อวัยวะที่ใช้ในการทำงาน นิ้วมือนิ้วเท้าที่ใหญ่โต
และมีจำนวนมากกว่าความเป็นจริง ในนิทรรศการนี้ใบหน้าของผู้คนมีความหลากหลายทางเชื้อชาติมากขึ้น โดยดึงเอาลักษณะเฉพาะของผู้คนทั่วโลก วัฒนธรรมการใช้ชีวิตที่แตกต่าง มาผสมผสาน จัดวางเรืองราวใหม่ได้อย่างเข้มข้น สนุกสนานและมีอิสระ
