Dear Sons And Daughters Of Hungry Ghosts
defining the realm of their existence in a new era
As Thailand grapples with itself,
a tug of war ensues between
prosperity and collapse.
Under a sky illuminated by shadows of ghosts,
the young dance awkwardly on a glimmer of hope to reverberating rhythms.
Rhythms composed by the ghosts of their fathers and mothers.
Translucent or invisible they may seem to many but always apparent, are strings that bind to
whispers and echoes flailing as they insinuate perils that await, should the dancers fall down.
This peril though only insinuated, blinds each and every one of these dancers with a trembling
fear.
To cast a look down or challenge the notion of an inferno below as opposed to it being a field of
rye is tantamount to taboo.
And so with trepidation, the young dancers continually move, without observing
anything,
even themselves.
Have many of our generation forgotten to look,
to look up,down,left,right,
to look anywhere or
elsewhere…
Every one of the four artists featured in this exhibition will reconstruct,connect and present a
“mutual personal experience” of their generation, well aware that the sum of all their cultural and
social identities are more a construction by and of, or remnants of the generations before that
still haunt them.

Dear Sons And Daughters Of Hungry Ghosts attempts to reassert a determination to strengthen
that glimmer of hope.

แด่ลูกชายและลูกสาวของภูติผีที่หิวโหย
แด่ใครและใครใต้เงาของภูติผี
ใต้ร่มของสมัยใหม่ การนิยาม จัดสรรและการแบ่งสัดส่วน
กรุงเทพฯ เป็นทั้งความรุ่งเรืองและความล่มสลาย ปรากฎเงาของภูมิผีเป็นแสงสลัวอยู่บนท้องฟ้าของมัน
บนเส้นด้ายของความคาดหวัง ที่หนุ่มสาวเต้นรำไปบนนั้นอย่างเก้งก้าง หวั่นไหว และสะท้านสะเทือน
ผีแห่งชนรุ่นก่อนหน้า สถาบันครอบครัว สถาบันทางสังคม ศาสนา ฯลฯ ผู้ที่เป็นพ่อและแม่
เป็นผู้ปกครองที่ชักไยอยู่เบื้องบน ส่งเสียงหลอกหลอนถึงความล้มเหลวที่รอคอยอยู่เบื้องล่าง
หากพลั้งร่วงหล่น
บนด้ายแห่งความคาดหวังนั้น คนรุ่นเราบางส่วนจึงลืมเลือนที่จะปรายตามองลงพื้นเบื้องล่าง
ว่าแท้จริงเป็นขวากหนามหรือฟูกนุ่มนวล เขาหลับตาแล้วเดินไปบนเส้นสายบอบบาง
ด้วยความหวาดกลัวจากความไม่รู้ ไม่มีเวลามองตัวเองในกระจก รีบเร่ง
เพราะเป้าหมายที่สุดปลายด้ายเส้นนั้นเรียกร้องให้เดินเข้าไปหา โยงไยทำชักนำก็ร่ายรำไปอย่างเก้ๆ กังๆ
ห่างออกมาจากจุดเริ่มต้น เชือกเส้นที่ชักอยู่บนหลังก็ยาวขึ้นเรื่อยๆ ท่ามกลางวัยหนุ่มสาว
เราพบว่าตัวเราเองยืนอยู่เดียวดายอยู่ ณ กึ่งกลางของเส้นด้าย มันดูหย่อนเหมือนจะขาด
การเดินไปข้างหน้าเป็นคำถาม ส่วนการเดินถอยหลังนั้นไม่ใช่ตัวเลือก

Dear Sons And Daughters Of Hungry Ghosts
เป็นความพยายามในการทำลายเส้นด้ายหย่อนยานนั้น แล้วลืมตาสำรวจความเป็นไปของเหล่า Gen Y
มองไปยังนัยตาของภูติผี และความไม่รู้เบื้องล่าง
วัฒนธรรม ครอบครัว สังคม และตัวตนที่ถูกสร้างและฝากฝัง
เป็นวิญญานจากคนรุ่นก่อนที่หลอกหลอนหนุ่มสาวยุคปลายศตวรรษที่ 20
เราพยายามเบือนหน้าหนีความคาดหวังและมายาคติที่สั่งสมมานับตั้งแต่การตายลงของเศรษฐกิจในปี 2540
และความพยายามกลับมารุ่งเรืองของผู้คนใน Gen X ที่ผูกติดความหวังอยู่กับอนุชนของพวกเขา
แม้จะเคลื่อนไหวภายใต้การชักไยของผู้มาก่อน
แต่หนุ่มสาวในยุคนี้ก็ได้พยายามหาความหมายบางอย่างเป็นของตัวเอง

ผลงานทั้ง 4 ชิ้น ที่จัดแสดงในนิทรรศการคือเรื่องราวของศิลปินทั้ง 4 ที่พยายามเชื่อมโยงและนำเสนอความ
“ปัจเจกอันคล้ายคลึง” ของ Generation การก่อสร้างขึ้นของอัตลักษณ์ของเหล่า Gen Y
และสำรวจสายใยของความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างผู้คนรุ่นก่อนหน้ากับหนุ่มสาวในปี 2560
รวมไปถึงเหล่าประเด็นร่วมสมัย อย่างเรื่องของครอบครัว เพศ ความไม่สบประกอบ และความห่างเหิน-
โดดเดี่ยว
