Verapat Sitipol @ Serindia Gallery Annex Bangkok

This inaugural solo exhibition at Serindia Gallery ANNEX features Thai artist Verapat Sitipol. Sitipol’s last exhibition was at the National Gallery, Bangkok, and since 2010 he has been working in his studio in Kanchanaburi. THE FOREST SEASONS is debut of his latest works. In the realm of abstract works, he is amongst Thailand’s finest painters of this genre.

“How time determines the changing lines and colors of nature is what inspired me to create this new series of oil paintings called The Forest Seasons. For the past few years, I have largely isolated myself in a studio near the forests of Kanchanaburi province where I let myself be absorbed by the tropical seasons. The deep green forests of the mountains, the changing colors of their leaves, the solid brown earth, the fogs that span horizontal space and distance — they allow freedom of my brushstrokes and open my eyes to the ever-changing colors. In them I deepen the understanding of abstract beauty and fulfill the aesthetic qualities of these present works.” – Verapat Sitipol

“ลายเส้นและสีสรรของธรรมชาติ เป็นแรงบันดาลใจหลักที่ทำให้ข้าพเจ้าสร้างผลงานชุดนี้….สีเขียวเข้มของภูเขาที่ตั้งทมึน ตลอดจนใบไม้และทุ่งหญ้า ความหนักแน่นของสีน้ำตาลเข้มบนพื้นดิน สายหมอกในฤดูหนาวที่ปกคลุมท้องถนน ลายเส้นของกิ่งไม้ที่สาดกระจายตัดกับระนาบของท้องฟ้าที่สงบเงียบ แสงแดดส่อง ลมพัด พุ่มไม้โบกสะบัด สลัดใบไม้ปลิวล่องลอย พร้อมๆ กับดอกไม้ที่ขยับประสานทำนองของสี ข้าพเจ้ามีความสุขและเพลิดเพลินที่ได้ติดตามปรากฎการณ์เหล่านี้ บางครั้งก็ปล่อยให้ความคิดติดตามทิศทางอันอิสระของกิ่งไม้ หรือให้ร่างกายถูกโอบล้อมด้วยความชื้นของฤดูฝน ถามหาความอบอุ่นกับความเย็นเยียบในฤดูหนาว คืนสู่ความว่างด้วยการทอดสายตาไปกับทุ่งหญ้าและภูเขา เก็บเกี่ยวประสบการณ์ที่สุขสงบ มีชีวิตชีวา เป็นความงามทางนามธรรมที่แต่งเติมสุนทรียภาพของชีวิตและงานศิลปะของข้าพเจ้า” วีรภัทร์ สิทธิพล

Serindia Gallery ANNEX is a new art space in the middle of Bangkok, nested on the 4th Floor of Central Embassy, inside HARDCOVER: The Art Book Shop. The ANNEX is Serindia Gallery’s dynamic space — shorter exhibitions featuring interesting works by a variety of international artists on rotations as well as occasional solo exhibitions. The location is convenient and accessible from both Ploen Chit and Chidlom BTS stations. The ANNEX space is a modern gallery gem in an iconic building Central Embassy in the middle of Bangkok.
