ANGKRIT AJCHARIYASOPHON : ANGKRIT GALLERY BANGKOK at SPEEDY GRANDMA >> FEB 3 – MAR 3, 2018

Angkrit Ajchariyasophon’s work will be exhibit at Speedy Grandma, Charoenkrung road, Bangkok.

This exhibition will bring the audiences to the beginning of the idea Angkrit has for an ideal gallery. He tries to recreate the model of what he is doing now, bring it to install in the gallery space of Speedy Grandma which sharing the same concept of “Artist-run-space” with Angkrit Gallery.

This is the official beginning of Angkrit Gallery in Bangkok and it seems like a return to “Angkrit Gallery” which founded in Chiang Rai, 2009 as well.

Speedy Grandma will display a “model of gallery” that has been duplicated from the space of “ARTIST+RUN” gallery, a commercial space that Angkrit is operating parallel right now in Soi Naradhiwas 22 (N22)

The model of gallery will exhibit the artwork from invited artists that Angkrit has work with before; from the past, present and future. Each invited artist is a representative of experience and memory of Angkrit towards each places in different time. It seems like (artists) live to create, show (exhibition) and waiting to be forget isn’t it? What should be the role for me (as an artist)? What is the role of Art? Idea from the old works when I was an art student still always coming back. Ass wipe toilet tissue as an artwork, one bunch of bananas, art composition book pickled in piss, one drop of honey on the pedestal, etc. Future and past are all imaginary and memory of the presence. There is no road map, no strategic plan, reality is keep on going in parallel with the simulation of reality.

Angkrit Ajchariyasophon was born in 1976, Chiang Rai. Graduated a Master’s Degree in Media Arts and Design from Chiang Mai University. He is a manager of “Jae Saharot” restaurant from 2008. Also he founded Angkrit Gallery in Chiang Rai in 2009. In 2011, he was curator for the exhibition “Chiang Mai Now!” Angkrit worked as a co-curator for Singapore Biennale in 2013. He was a guest curator for Brand New Project in 2016, also founded ARTIST+RUN. He is an independent artist.

นิทรรศการในครั้งนี้ จะนำผู้ชมเดินทางไปสู่จุดเริ่มต้นของการทำงานแกลลอรี่ในแบบอุดมคติ อังกฤษสร้างแบบจำลองความคิดของสิ่งที่ทำอยู่ เพื่อนำไปติดตั้งให้อยู่ในแกลลอรี่ Speedy Grandma ซึ่งเป็นแกลลอรี่ลักษณะ “Artist-run space” แบบเดียวกับ อังกฤษ แกลลอรี่

เป็นการเริ่มต้น อังกฤษ แกลลอรี่ กรุงเทพฯ อย่างเป็นทางการ และดูเหมือนว่าจะเป็นการย้อนกลับไปสู่ “อังกฤษ แกลลอรี่” ที่ก่อตั้งเมื่อปี 2009 ที่เชียงรายด้วย

ภายในห้องนิทรรศการของ Speedy Grandma จะเป็นการจัดแสดง “ห้องแกลลอรี่จำลอง(Model)” ซึ่งถอดแบบมาจาก ARTIST+RUN ซึ่งเป็นห้องแสดงผลงานศิลปะที่อังกฤษ ดำเนินการบริหารในเชิงธุรกิจ คู่ขนานอยู่ในขณะนี้ เปิดทำการอยู่ที่ถนนนราธิวาสราชนครินทร์ ซอย 22 (N22) (Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra)

ในห้องแกลลอรี่จำลองจัดแสดงผลงานศิลปะของศิลปินรับเชิญที่ อังกฤษ ได้เคยร่วมงานและมีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องด้วยทั้งในอดีต ปัจจุบัน และในอนาคต ศิลปินรับเชิญแต่ละคน เป็นตัวแทนของประสบการณ์ และ ความทรงจำที่ อังกฤษ มีต่อสถานที่ในเวลาต่างๆกัน …ดูเหมือนว่า (ศิลปิน)เราต่างมีชีวิตอยู่ เพื่อสร้างสิ่งต่างๆ(งานศิลปะ) จัดแสดง(นิทรรศการ) และรอวันที่จะถูกลืม อย่างนั้นหรือ ? เรา(ในฐานะศิลปิน)ควรมีบทบาทอย่างไร ? ศิลปะควรทำหน้าที่อย่างไร? ความคิดเกี่ยวกับงานเก่าๆที่เคยทำ สมัยที่เป็นนักเรียนศิลปะ ยังวนเวียนกลับมาอยู่เสมอ กระดาษเช็ดตูดในฐานะงานศิลปะ, กล้วยน้ำว้า 1 หวี, หนังสือองค์ประกอบศิลป์ดองน้ำปัสสวะ, น้ำผึ้งหยดเดียวบนแท่นวางประติมากรรม ฯลฯ อนาคตและอดีตล้วนเป็นจินตนาการและความทรงจำสำหรับปัจจุบัน ไม่มีโร้ดแมป ไม่มีแผนยุทธศาสตร์ ความจริงกำลังดำเนินไป คู่ขนานกับแบบจำลองของความจริง

อังกฤษ อัจฉริยโสภณ เกิดเมื่อปี 2519 ที่จังหวัดเชียงราย เรียนจบปริญญาโท สาขาสื่อศิลปะและการออกแบบสื่อ จากมหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ เป็นผู้จัดการร้านเกาเหลาเลือดหมูเจ๊สหรส ตั้งแต่ปี 2008 เป็นผู้ก่อตั้งอังกฤษ แกลลอรี่ เชียงราย ปี 2009 เป็น Curator รับเชิญงานนิทรรศการ Chiang Mai Now! ปี 2011 เป็น Co-Curator ให้กับนิทรรศการ Singapore Biennale 2013 และเป็น Curator รับเชิญให้กับโครงการศิลปกรรมแบรนด์นิว ปี 2016 เป็นผู้ก่อตั้งแกลลอรี่ ARTIST+RUN เมื่อปี 2016 และเป็นศิลปินอิสระ
