The Office of Contemporary Art and Culture, Ministry of Culture bringing for the first time an art exhibition that breaks all walls, boundaries, and traditions of arts through the exhibition of works totally created in Ratchadamnoen Contemporary Art Center (RCAC) by over 20 graffiti artists including BIGDEL, GRAFFITI HOLIDAY, JECKS, BASID, JOKER, BONUS TMC, etc. in juxtaposition with a contemporary mural painting by Verapong Sritrakulkitjakarn (AYINO), the only fine artist in the exhibition, covering the total area of over 480 m². The exhibition opens the institution of an art gallery as a stage for raising questions and discussions about the traditional boundary between High or Fine Art and Low or Street Art. Let’s find an answer and ‘break’ such walls and boundaries through an artist talk and discussion by a fine artist, AYINO, and a graffiti artist BIGDEL, as well as through a variety of works in the exhibition that break all rules, ranging from oil, acrylic, to spray paint. Apart from exhibiting works on the walls, short VDO clips which document the process of creation will also be exhibited alongside the works.

“Breakin’ the Walls” Art Exhibition will be on show from 16th – 31st March 2018 at Ratchadamnoen Contemporary Art Center.

About the Artists:
Verapong Sritrakulkitjakarn (AYINO) graduated with a BFA and MFA in Graphic Art (1st Class honours) from the Faculty of Painting Sculpture and Graphic Arts, Silpakorn University. He is an outstanding contemporary Thai artist working both on prints and paintings and won a gold medal from the 51st National Exhibition of Art in 2005. AYINO has exhibited in various national and international exhibitions including the recent solo exhibition Chronicle at Subhashok The Arts Centre (S.A.C.) in 2017, and the Art Stage Singapore 2017 in which he was the only Thai artist invited for live painting. Recently, AYINO has been creating contemporary mural paintings inspired by objects and issues of the everyday life which is truly extraordinary for the exactness execution of lines and figures without any prior sketch or drawing on the surface.

Dale Horgan (BIGDEL) is a graffiti artist, graphic designer and illustrator with international recognition. He is the co-founder of CON-TENT STUDIO and INVISIBLE EMPIRE CLOTHING, and used to be the co-host and producer of ArtVenture, a TV program about graffiti and street art on Travel Channel, True Visions. He has also exhibited works in many evens and platforms including Nike World Cup “Write the Future” Campaign, Chimney Magazine x Adidas Live Graffiti Show, etc. and has also been invited as a judge in many graffiti contests.

13.00 – 14.30 เวทีเสวนา หัวข้อ “การทลายกำแพงแห่งศิลปะ” โดยศิลปิน วีรพงษ์ ศรีตระกูลกิจการ (AYINO) และเดเอล ฮอร์แกน (BIGDEL)

ครั้งแรกกับนิทรรศการที่ทลายกำแพงและขนบทางศิลปะด้วยการรวบรวมศิลปินกราฟฟิตีชื่อดังกว่า 20 ชีวิต อาทิ BIGDEL, GRAFFITI HOLIDAY, JECKS, BASID, JOKER, BONUS TMC ฯลฯ มาสร้างสรรค์ผลงานในพื้นที่หอศิลป์ร่วมสมัยราชดำเนิน ร่วมด้วยวีรพงษ์ ศรีตระกูลกิจการ หรือ AYINO ศิลปินผู้สร้างงานจิตรกรรมร่วมสมัยหนึ่งเดียวของนิทรรศการ บนพื้นที่รวมกว่า 480 ตารางเมตร ในนิทรรศการนี้ สำนักงานศิลปวัฒนธรรมร่วมสมัย กระทรวงวัฒนธรรม เปิดหอศิลป์ร่วมสมัยราชดำเนินให้เป็นพื้นที่แห่งการตั้งคำถามและถกประเด็นถึงขนบดั้งเดิมทางศิลปะที่แบ่งแยกระหว่างศิลปะชั้นสูงหรือวิจิตรศิลป์ และศิลปะข้างถนนหรือสตรีทอาร์ต มาร่วมกันค้นหาคำตอบและ “ทลาย” กำแพงแห่งศิลปะผ่านเวทีเสวนา (Artist Talk) โดยศิลปินร่วมสมัย AYINO และศิลปินกราฟฟิตี BIGDEL รวมทั้งผลงานอันหลากหลายในนิทรรศการ ซึ่งทลายทุกกฎเกณฑ์ ตั้งแต่งานวาดสีน้ำมัน เพ้นท์สีอะคริลิค ไปจนถึงพ่นสีสเปรย์ นิทรรศการนี้ยังมีความพิเศษคือนอกจากจะจัดแสดงผลงานกราฟฟิตีและงานจิตรกรรมร่วมสมัยแล้ว ยังมีการจัดแสดงวิดีโอขนาดสั้นที่บันทึกการสร้างสรรค์งานของศิลปินประกอบผลงานอีกด้วย

เกี่ยวกับศิลปินผู้ร่วมเสวนา:

วีรพงษ์ ศรีตระกูจกิจการ (AYINO) จบการศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรีและปริญญาโท เกียรตินิยมอันดับ 1 จากภาควิชาภาพพิมพ์ คณะจิตรกรรมประติมากรรมและภาพพิมพ์ มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร เป็นศิลปินไทยร่วมสมัยที่มีผลงานโดดเด่นทั้งด้านภาพพิมพ์และงานจิตรกรรม เขาได้รับรางวัลเกียรตินิยมอันดับ 1 เหรียญทอง จากการแสดงศิลปกรรมแห่งชาติ ครั้งที่ 51 พ.ศ. 2548 และเคยจัดแสดงผลงานทั้งในและต่างประเทศ ล่าสุดใน พ.ศ. 2560 เขาจัดแสดงนิทรรศการเดี่ยว “พงศาวดาร: Chronicle” ณ หอศิลป์ ศุภโชค ดิ อาร์ต เซ็นเตอร์ และเป็นศิลปินหนึ่งเดียวจากประเทศไทยที่ได้ไปสร้างสรรค์ผลงานแสดงสดที่งาน Art Stage ประเทศสิงคโปร์ ในระยะนี้เขาสร้างสรรค์ผลงานจิตรกรรมร่วมสมัยที่มีเนื้อหาเรื่องราวเกี่ยวกับสิ่งต่างๆ รอบตัว ซึ่งโดดเด่นด้วยการสร้างผลงานสดๆ อย่างแม่นยำโดยไม่ผ่านการสเก็ตช์หรือร่างภาพใดๆ

เดเอล ฮอร์แกน (BIGDEL) เป็นศิลปินกราฟฟิตีที่มีชื่อเสียงระดับนานาชาติ เขาเป็นหนึ่งในผู้ก่อตั้ง CON-TENT STUDIO และ INVISIBLE EMPIRE CLOTHING และเคยเป็นพิธีกรและโปรดิวเซอร์รายการ ArtVenture TV รายการเกี่ยวกับศิลปะกราฟฟิตีและสตรีทอาร์ต ออกอากาศทาง Travel Channel, True Visions เคยแสดงผลงานมาแล้วมากมาย อาทิ Nike World Cup “Write the Future” Campaign, Chimney Magazine x Adidas Live Graffiti Show ฯลฯ และยังได้รับเชิญเป็นกรรมการตัดสินในการประกวดกราฟฟิตีต่างๆ
