Paitoon Jumee is a young Thai artist living in Bangkok whom graduated from the prestigious Thai Pohchang University. He is worldly praised for his colorful yet serene women faces, a reminder of an ancestral culture. Eyes closed, his paintings & masks recall the overwhelming presence of buddha representations across south east asia and delicately move the spectator into introspection.

Based in Bangkok behind the French embassy, Artha Gallery wants to highlight & promote the boiling South East Asian art scene.

Burmese, Thai and Vietnamese, this new generation of artists finally breaches the gap between an ancestral culture and contemporary art. Soaked in buddhist traditions yet exposed to « modernity », this convergence gives birth to amazing and often committed artworks.
