► ABOUT THE SPEAKER
AKIRA TATEHATA is an art critic and poet who has written extensively about Yayoi Kusama’s work. He was commissioner of the Japanese Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 1990 and 1993, and invited Kusama to represent Japan in the latter year. Professor Tatehata specialises in modern and contemporary art, and has been involved with numerous international art exhibitions and projects. He was artistic director of the 1st Yokohama Triennale (2001) and Aichi Triennale (2010), and now serves as Director of The Museum of Modern Art, Saitama, President of Tama Art University, and Chairman of the Japanese Council of Museums.
