DESCRIPTION:OPENING PARTY 6 MARCH 2015 – PERIOD OF EXHIBITION 6-29 MARCH 2015\n***The gallery space at Speedy Grandma will be transformed into a darkroom for this exhibition \n***พื้นที่แกลลอรี่ของคุณยายจะถูกแปลงให้เป็นห้องมืดเพื่อนิทรรศการนี้ อย่าลืมติดตามเรา ^^ \nArtist Jesper Haynes at Speedy Grandma \n—————- \nArtist Statement\nStarting in early 1980’s I had a goal to shoot one roll of black and white film every day\,\nsometimes I succeeded\, often not. \nAfter 20 years I had a collection of thousands of rolls of film and for each roll a contact\nsheet was created\, these contact sheets represented my photographic life\, it was my diary. \nFor this installation I wanted to recreate that feeling of being in the darkroom looking over the contact sheets. By scanning selected contact sheets and selecting certain images and then creating these three blown up contact sheets I am presenting a photographic diary of my life in New York’s downtown from early 1980’s until late 1990’s.\nWe were in love with the city and with the feeling that anything is possible and anything goes. When he was 16 years old he met Andy Warhol in Stockholm who encouraged him to come and live in New York\, once in New York he started working for Ralph Gibson printing in the darkroom for five years.\nDays where spent in the darkroom and nights at club Area while living in Larry Clark’s apartment on Hudson and Canal\, “I never saw daylight”.\nJesper has since established himself as an artist documenting his unique lifestyle through photography. His photographs are part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art in Stockholm\, Sweden.\nHe shares his time between New York (where he is based)\, Bangkok\, Stockholm and Tokyo
