DESCRIPTION:Every Wednesday night at JAM is CINÉ CLUB. \nGuest host for May is Pilot Pirx\, an artist\, musician and producer from the Czech Republic. \nOur Theme for May is ‘Czech New Wave Part II’. \nWed\, 3 May – Closely Watched Trains (1966\, Jirí Menzel)\nWed\, 10 May –\nWed\, 17 May – The Joke (1968\, Jaromil Jires)\nWed\, 24 May – Witchhammer (1970\, Otakar Vávra)\nWed\, 31 May – The Firemen’s Ball (1968\, Milos Forman) \nScreening will start at 8 pm. \nWITCHHAMMER\nBased on the novel Kladivo na čarodějnice by Václav Kaplický\, Witchhammer relates the story of the Northern Moravia witch trials of the 1670s\, focusing on the priest Kryštof Lautner\, played by Romančík\, who falls victim to the witchhunt after opposing the trials. The film contains possible allegory about Communism in Czechoslovakia. After its completion\, the film was banned in Czechoslovakia.
