DESCRIPTION:Every Wednesday night at JAM is CINÉ CLUB. \nGuest host for July is producer/musician\, Jacob Kogan. \nOur Theme for July is ‘Doppelgänger Part II’ \nWed\, 5 July – Solaris (Andrei Tarkovsky\, 1972)\nWed\, 12 July – Lost Highway (David Lynch\, 1997)\nWed\, 19 July – Moon (Duncan Jones\, 2009)\nWed\, 26 July – Enemy (Denis Villeneuve\, 2014) \nThe screening will start at 8 pm. \nDOPPELGÄNGER PART II\n“Not until Freud revealed the importance of the irrational in man have we been willing to admit the possibility that each of us has within us a second or a shadow self dwelling beside the eminently civilised\, eminently rational self\, a Double who may at any time assert its anti-social tendencies.” \n—Rosenfield\, Claire. “The Shadow within: The Conscious and Unconscious Use of the Double.” Daedalus\, vol. 92\, no. 2\, 1963\, pp. 326–344. \nThese four films explore the idea of a “double” in myriad ways: as a fever dream born out of isolation; as an impossibility realised through grief; as a manifestation of the subconscious psychosexual self.
