DESCRIPTION:*For Thai please scroll down* \nWhitewash\nby Harit Srikhao\nat Gallery VER\n3rd June – 22nd July 2017\nOpening 3rd June 2017\, 6.30 pm. \nWhitewash (2015-2016) \nSchool vacation\, summer\, 2010. The atmosphere of political violence in Thailand continuously heated up\, and my friends and I were unable to go home. We all stayed together at a friend’s house. We only received information from the military\, which made us curse the protestors feverishly and watch them getting beaten up with great satisfaction. \nThen\, in 2014\, the thirteenth coup d’etat took place in Thailand. The country has been ruled by the military regime ever since. I began researching deeper about the country’s political history. I found that in 2010\, the crackdown resulted in over 90 deaths. Although the death toll of this incident remains the highest in Thai history\, none of the victims has received any justice from the law or society. \nThis work was driven by the cold-blooded responses that I and other people around me had towards the protestors back then. Five years have passed and I’ve only started to perceive what actually happened and understand the protestors as fellow human beings. \nThe fact that people in the country remained ignorant\, indifferent\, and even satisfied towards the protestors’ deaths reflects the chilling darkness of nationalism. All the places that appear in my work are those where students are brought to to receive “moral attunement.” \nThe process of history laundering is conducted through sacred rituals and celebrations\, while the concept of karma is used as the key political tool for dehumanization. \nSuch a process of mental and emotional surgery has been conducted continuously for a long time to control the lives\, minds\, and dreams of people in the country. \nAbout artist \nHarit Srikhao born in 1995 in a Pathumthani suburb\, Srikhao started taking photos when he was 13 years old with his keen eyes\, until at the age of 16 he was selected to attend the Angkor Photo Workshop of French photographer\, Antoine d’Agata (Magnum Photos). After coming back to Thailand\, he started his first series\, Red Dream (2012)\, by returning to the route that he got lost in the night of the military crackdown in 2010. \nSrikhao continually creates works in photo essay style\, and his works were exhibited in both Thailand and foreign countries\, e.g.\, ‘Cross_Stitch’ exhibition at Bangkok Art and Culture Center\, ‘Margin of Visual Threshold’ exhibition at Circle Art Centre (China)\, GETXOPHOTO Exhibition (Spain) and New Perspectives on Photography Exhibition by Musée de l’Elysée (Switzerland\, England and Mexico). \nCurrently\, Srikhao is in the progress of creating new work which is about the holy rites of imaginary beings for his dissertation in King Mongkut’s Instutute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL). \n————//————- \nไร้มลทิน\nศิลปิน : หฤษฏ์ ศรีขาว\nสถานที่ : แกลลอรี่เว่อร์\n3 มิถุนายน – 22 กรกฎาคม 2017\nพิธีเปิด 3 มิถุนายน 2017 18:30 น. \nไร้มลทิน (2015-2016) \nปิดเทอมฤดูร้อนปี 2010 บรรยากาศความไม่สงบทางการเมืองในประเทศไทยเพิ่มขึ้นอย่างต่อเนื่อง ส่งผลให้ผมและเพื่อนๆไม่สามารถกลับบ้านได้ พวกเราจึงไปอาศัยอยู่รวมกันที่บ้านของเพื่อนคนหนึ่ง เรารับรู้สถานการณ์ผ่านแถลงการณ์จากฝ่ายกองทัพที่ทำให้พวกเราพากันสาปแช่งกลุ่มผู้ชุมนุมอย่างขาดสติ และเฝ้าดูพวกเขาได้รับการลงฑัณฑ์ด้วยความสะใจ \nในปี 2014 รัฐประหารครั้งที่ 13 เกิดขึ้นโดยคสช. ส่งผลจนถึงปัจจุบันให้ประเทศถูกปกครองโดยกองทัพ ผมจึงเริ่มค้นหาข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับเหตุการณ์ทางการเมือง ทำให้พบว่าในปี 2010 มีประชาชนเสียชีวิตกว่า 90 ศพ และแม้จะเป็นจำนวนมากที่สุดในประวัติศาสตร์ไทย แต่เหยื่อจากเหตุการณ์ดังกล่าว ก็ไม่เคยได้รับความเป็นธรรมใดๆ จากกฎหมายหรือจากสังคม \nงานชิ้นนี้ได้รับการผลักดันจากปฏิกิริยาเลือดเย็นของผมและผู้คนรอบข้างที่มีต่อกลุ่มผู้ชุมนุมในเวลานั้น จนผ่านไปแล้ว 5 ปี ผมจึงเพิ่งรับรู้สิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นและเข้าใจพวกเขาในฐานะเพื่อนมนุษย์ การที่ผู้คนในประเทศไม่รับรู้ \,นิ่งเฉย ตลอดจนสะใจต่อการตายของกลุ่มผู้ชุมนุม ได้สะท้อนความน่าสะพรึงกลัวของแนวคิดชาตินิยม สถานที่ต่างๆที่ปรากฎอยู่ในผลงานชุดนี้ เป็นที่ซึ่งนักเรียนทุกคนถูกพาไปกล่อมเกลาทางศีลธรรม \nกระบวนการฟอกอดีตดำเนินไปผ่านพิธีกรรมและงานเฉลิมฉลองอันศักดิ์สิทธิ์ ด้วยแนวคิดเรื่องกฎแห่งกรรมที่ถูกใช้เป็นอาวุธทางการเมืองสำคัญในการทำลายคุณค่าความเป็นมนุษย์ \nกระบวนการเหล่านี้ถูกกระทำอย่างต่อเนื่องเป็นเวลานาน มันคือการศัลยกรรมความคิดจิตใจ เพื่อควบคุมทั้งชีวิต\, ความทรงจำและ ความใฝ่ฝันของผู้คนทั้งประเทศ \nเกี่ยวกับศิลปิน \nหฤษฎ์ ศรีขาว เกิดเมื่อปี 1995 ในแถบชานเมืองปทุมธานี เขาเริ่มถ่ายภาพเมื่ออายุ 13 ปี ด้วยสายตาที่ซุกซนต่อสิ่งรายรอบ พออายุ 16 ปี เขาก็ได้รับคัดเลือกเข้าอบรมเชิงปฏิบัติการกับศิลปินภาพถ่ายชาวฝรั่งเศส Antoine d’Agata (Magnum Photos) ใน Angkor Photo Workshop เมื่อกลับมาเมืองไทยเขาเริ่มถ่ายภาพชุดแรก Red Dream (2012) ด้วยการย้อนกลับไปถ่ายภาพถนนเส้นเดิมที่เขาเคยเดินหลงในค่ำคืน เกิดเหตุสลายการชุมนุมเมื่อปี2553 \nหฤษฎ์สร้างสรรค์ผลงานอย่างต่อเนื่อง ในลักษณะ Photo Essay ผลงานของเขาได้จัดแสดงทั้งในและนอกประเทศ อาทิ นิทรรศการ ‘Cross_Stitch’ ที่หอศิลปวัฒนธรรมแห่งกรุงเทพมหานคร\, นิทรรศการ ‘Margin of Visual Threshold’ ที่ Circle Art Centre ประเทศจีน\, เทศกาลภาพถ่าย GETXOPHOTO ประเทศสเปน\, นิทรรศการ New Perspectives on Photography จัดโดย Musée de l’Elysée ที่จัดแสดงงานทั้งในประเทศสวิตเซอร์แลนด์\, ประเทศอังกฤษ และประเทศเม็กซิโก \nผลงานชุดนี้ได้รับรางวัล Winner of Juror’s prize ในนิทรรศการ ‘Power and Politic’ จาก Filter Photo Festival ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา (www.filterfestival.com)\, รางวัล Second Prize Winner Gomma Grant 2016 (www.gommagrant.com) และรางวัล Special mention by the jury ที่ Dusseldolf Portfolio Review 2017 ประเทศเยอรมัน (www.portfolio-review.de) รวมถึงได้รับการตีพิมพ์ในนิตยสารภาพถ่ายระดับโลก Foam (www.foam.org) และปี 2016 หฤษฎ์ ศรีขาว ได้รับรางวัลยอดเยี่ยม สาขาภาพถ่าย Young Thai Artist Award (www.scgfoundation.org) \nปัจจุบันหฤษฎ์อยู่ระหว่างการสร้างผลงานชุดใหม่เกี่ยวกับพิธีกรรมศักดิ์สิทธิ์ของกลุ่มสิ่งมีชีวิตประหลาด สำหรับปริญญานิพนธ์ จากสถาบันเทคโนโลยีพระจอมเกล้าเจ้าคุณทหารลาดกระบัง \nข้อมูลเพิ่มเติม\nGallery VER l แกลเลอร์เว่อร์\nที่อยู่ 2198/10-11 ซ.นราธิวาส 22 แขวงช่องนนทรี\nเขตบางคอแหลม\, กรุงเทพมหานคร\nเวปไซด์: https://www.vergallery.com อีเมล: galleryver@gmail.com\nTel : 02 103 4067 \,080 580 2513
