El Chiringuito # Art Exhibition # We Goat It

February 19, 2015 @ 7:00 pmFebruary 21, 2015 @ 12:00 am ICT

It’s the end of the Chinese year, it’s a good time to look back at the year gone and look forward to the new one coming. Having 3 New Years celebrations in Thailand is a great excuse to restate those failed resolutions and of course get amongst the rich culture and history that inhibits Bangkok.

‘We Goat it’ is a flash exhibition, only available for viewing 3 days here in China Town, starting on 19th February.

We have gathered this group of 7 artists: Andre Ozga, Asin, Bonus, Diamond one, Melanie Gritzka del Villar, Mr. Bows, Sath. And let them play in the town house next to our tapas bar. For this Goaty New Year, the old walls have been transformed into colorful pieces and some artworks especially created for the event.

El Chiringuito is very happy to accommodate this mix of artists for our 1st anniversary. Let’s join us and appreciate the full emersion of what they have done with our space as well as our delightful Spanish tapas.

ANDRE OZGA

Nothing that needs explaining is worth explaining. I merely paint my surroundings. Since moving to Thailand, I have discovered new colours, rhythms and life. This is what I try to share with the world.
I use many and any materials I can get my hands on. Acrylic, oil, pastel, spray paint, ink, marker… I use them all together. Their collaboration, in my opinion, gives work a sense of chaos. Chaos like the chaos we see and deal with every day in our lives.
Finally, I have never introduced the human form in my landscapes until now. This I have done because I have realised how the surrounding landscape is always inhabited and stepped on by people. It is almost impossible to avoid them.

ASIN

One man underground chicken.

DIAMOND ONE

The lack of ability to stay still makes Diamonds life and works positively unique. Through his mixed mediums of spray paint, acrylic, oils and photography, he always puts a fresh look on things. Being predominately a street and graffiti artist it’s more than likely you’ve seen, or been in the close vicinity of his works on the street.
For ‘We Goat it’ Diamond will be showcasing some new Chinese New Year based works as well as some unseen works that have “been taking up wall space and need to see the sun” in his Bangkok studio.

MELANIE GRITZKA DEL VILLAR

I am a half-German, half-Filipino artist currently based in Bangkok. I consider myself a synthesizer of different cultural references, of archaic as well as dream symbols; a reclaimer of discarded or overlooked surfaces. I am interested in a new human ecology, one that respects our interdependence as human beings, our own inner nature, and the natural environment. My main expression is painting, however I frequently use collage and layering techniques too and venture into mixed media work. My art is a record of my experiences, emotions and visions – a record that charts a lived personal reality which hopefully touches upon a more collective and universal truth.

MR. BOWS

He is a Graffiti writer and graphic designer from Bangkok who is been painting on the streets for 13 years. He first started painting after being inspired after walking the painted streets of New York, when he returned to Bangkok he started adding his own life to dead walls of Thailand and since then has been perfecting his art. Lately his work is becoming more know in other mediums due to his affiliations with clothing brands such as ‘Sneaka Villa’ and ‘Coma Sound Cartel’. Mr Bows current move into the galleries around Bangkok has been a highly anticipated one and we are more than happy to host this through and through street artist.

SATH

He uses figurative elements to create colorful pieces slightly surreal, and impossible situations or actions, but never neglecting the message. Everyday life situations melt and transform into new ones, implying a change of meaning from its original context. He pursues the idea of the re-contextualization as a tool to construct new meanings.
Using spray painting as his main coloring technique since 2002, this visual communicator shares his curiosity and thoughts through painting art, either on canvas or making a different use of urban environment mainly outside of the context of traditional art venues.
